Aamulehti interview with Johanna Kantola on equality in Finland and Europe

Professor Johanna Kantola was interviewed by Finnish newspaper Aamulehti about her research on 4.12.2017 (original text in Finnish).

Five years, five researchers

European Research Council ERC granted last week a funding of two million euros to Kantola for a project, which aims to research the gender equality policies and practices of European parliament’s party groups.

–Although the party groups are central democratic actors in the EU-parliament, there exists surprisingly little scientific knowledge about how gender equality is realized in them. EU-parliament is considered a gender equal actor. Perhaps that explains the lack of research: it is thought that the parliament is a gender equal actor.
