Welcome to a research seminar on Feminist Politics and Populism organised at Gender Studies, University of Tampere! The seminar is organised around the research visit of Emanuela Lombardo (Complutense University Madrid), hosted by Johanna Kantola and the ERC funded research project EUGenDem.
Populism is everywhere in Europe today: in politics and research. It is also having a fundamental effect on gender relations, gender equality policies, feminist politics and feminist research and theory. Research into gender and populism has started to emerge in recent years in a variety of contexts. The aim of this seminar is to scrutinize one crucial topic in relation to gender and populism, namely the relationship between feminist politics and populism in Europe today. The seminar explores which are the specific questions, issues, and dilemmas that populism poses for feminist politics.
