The DigiScope3 project focuses on developing new capabilities for environmentally friendly reporting in the SME sector in the Scope 3 type. This is necessary as traceability requirements become stricter, e.g. through legislation.

About the project

In the project, TAMK is developing ways to reliably calculate CO2 emissions during the manufacturing process, and JAMK is developing sustainable procurement processes that equally utilise digitalisation. However, DigiScope3 goes beyond regulations and aims to find out how better traceability and measurement of carbon footprint or even carbon handprint could help companies create new business models and new innovation based on the data economy.

Measures

The project measures are as follows:

WP1: State-of-the-art report on the situation of the SME sector, existing tools and projects
WP2: Jamk: Sustainable and digitally smart procurement
WP3: TAMK: Measurement of emissions from manufacturing
WP4: Reporting as part of the data economy
WP5 Communications and national and international cooperation

Results

The results are as follows:

Outcome 1: Opportunities and challenges of implementing scope-type reporting
Result 2: Sustainable procurement processes
Result 3: Value from data – how can product carbon footprint assessment, open reporting and sustainable sourcing grow a company’s business?
Result 4: Testbed to produce information to reduce the company’s carbon footprint
Result 5: Strengthening ecosystem-like activity

Funding

The project is funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The project’s duration is 1 January 2025 – 31 January 2028.
