How to get to Tampere

Flying to Tampere 

There are direct flights to Tampere by airBaltic from Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Munich. You can fly into Tampere from many other locations through the company’s Riga hub. 

Finnair serves Tampere through flights to Helsinki followed by a bus to Tampere. Or you could choose to take a train instead of the bus – both leave directly from the Helsinki Airport. 

Tampere-Pirkkala Airport is located 17 kilometres from the city centre. Information about the services at the airport can be found at the Tampere-Pirkkala Airport website. 

Flying to Helsinki 

Helsinki Airport is Finland’s international air travel hub; over 150 direct flights from all over the world land daily in Helsinki. Trains and buses between Helsinki Airport and Tampere run frequently, and the train station in Tampere is within walking distance of the venue and many of its nearby hotels. It is a 2-hour drive from Helsinki Airport to Tampere.

Note! When travelling by train from the Helsinki airport to Tampere, you first change trains at the Tikkurila station. Currently there is construction going on at the station and there are fewer trains running between the airport and Tikkurila. This may cause extra time to get to Tampere. The most up-to-date information is here. You should also note that the same track might have multiple trains on it. Be careful to make sure you get on the right train! 

Travelling to Tampere by land and sea 

International travel options to Helsinki, Finland include ferries from Tallinn, Estonia (2 – 3 hours), Stockholm, Sweden (overnight) and Travemünde/Lübeck, Germany (27 hours). There are also daily ferries between Turku and Stockholm (10 – 12 hours). Buses and trains from Helsinki to Tampere take under two hours.
