CONVERGENCE researcher Ninja Kajas recently returned from LOPEC 2026, the world’s leading international conference and exhibition for flexible, organic, and printed electronics, held in Munich from February 24–26. The event brought together researchers, manufacturers, and industry leaders to exchange knowledge and discover emerging trends in printed electronics, from smart living solutions to mobility innovations. Her presentation was about “All-Solution-Processed Ultra-Thin Piezoelectric Sensors for e-Skin Applications“.

Reflecting on her visit, Ninja described the conference as both enriching and energizing. She enjoyed the opportunity to practice her German during conversations with local participants, which added a personal dimension to the professional setting. The discussions she engaged in were especially meaningful, offering new perspectives and sparking fresh ideas for her ongoing work. She noted how well the conference and exhibition were organized, creating an environment that made it easy to meet experts from across the field.
Ninja also emphasized how valuable it was to receive direct feedback from peers and professionals, many of whom offered insights that she expects will influence her future research direction. Throughout the event, she deepened her understanding of topics such as sustainable materials and the growing range of applications enabled by flexible electronics — the areas that LOPEC continues to highlight due to their increasing relevance in industry.
For someone who spends most days working in the lab, interacting with people from industry provided an important reminder of how essential communication and collaboration are across the innovation pipeline. LOPEC’s unique blend of exhibition and conference programming underscored this connection by bringing research and real‑world applications closer together.
