We are proud to share that Jurgis Peters has recently become a visiting researcher at Aalto University, working with the rATs (Transdisciplinary research across art + science + technology) research group, led by Laura Beloff.
As part of this role, Jurgis contributed to the Välillä Väärässä group exhibition in Imatra, collaborating closely with Laura Beloff on three new pieces. The exhibition was a joint initiative between the City of Imatra and Aalto University’s Department of Art and Media, featuring works deeply connected to the city through their site-specificity and subject matter.
The project began with an investigation into the sudden and unexplained proliferation of black flies (MÄKÄRÄINEN) in the Imatra region. Drawing from this ecological phenomenon, the work examines shared discomforts between artificial life and overlooked elements of natural ecosystems, asking whether kinship can be formed with the undesirable when we are all bound within complex bio-technological systems.
