As part of the COFIRD – Co-creation for Finnish-Indian R&D project’s India tour, representatives from COFIRD, Tampere University and KONE visited Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), one of India’s most respected universities.
The discussions focused on expanding collaboration in both education and research, with an emphasis on building stronger connections between academia and industry. The exchange of ideas with the Vice Chancellor and the deans offered meaningful insights into how both sides can work together to drive innovation and create new opportunities for students and researchers.
The delegation also toured the impressive VIT campus, including several state-of-the-art laboratories featuring live demonstrations that highlighted the university’s strong capabilities in emerging technologies.

Tampere University’s President, Keijo Hämäläinen, conveyed his encouragement and support for future cooperation through a video message shared during the visit.
A warm thank you goes to Dr. Dhinesh Babu L. D. and Prof. Dr. Seenivasan R. for their hospitality and for hosting an engaging and productive day.
The visit marks another important step forward in fostering Finnish-Indian partnerships aimed at advancing research, education, and industry collaboration under the COFIRD initiative.
