As part of the COFIRD – Co-creation for Finnish-Indian R&D project’s India tour, the COFIRD consortium visited the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), one of India’s premier engineering and technology institutions. The delegation included representatives from Tampere University, KONE, Konecranes, and Demola: Biju Thankachan, Hanna Heinonen, Totti Berg, Rajesh Nehete, and Jere Wessman.
The visit focused on strengthening Finnish-Indian collaboration in research, innovation, and education. Delegates explored a range of impressive student design projects at IIT Delhi, including paper-based prototypes and advanced virtual applications, highlighting the university’s strong capabilities in technology-driven innovation.

Tampere University’s President, Keijo Hämäläinen, shared a video message extending his greetings and emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation between Finnish and Indian institutions.
The delegation also received a presentation on the Demola project carried out within the COFIRD initiative and held discussions with the Nordic Centre in India, represented by Christabel Royan and Ilika K. Jimo, to explore future collaboration opportunities.

The COFIRD consortium expressed its gratitude to Dr. Charu Monga for hosting the delegation. The visit reinforced the potential of Finnish-Indian partnerships in driving innovation, fostering academic collaboration, and bridging industry and research.
