The AI Champion is a Co-Innovation project coordinated by Tampere University and the third pilot of the data economy growth program of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland, with an aim to promote the flow of information from data silos into practice using artificial intelligence agents.

Background

The fragmentation and compartmentalization of information into the so-called data silos has been identified as a significant challenge in the Real Estate and Construction industry.

There has been an attempt to develop a national reference model in scattered sets in Finland for several years, but this is not enough in the international market. A systemic development of data management is required instead.

Goal

AI Champion aims to enrich and stream building services design, procurement and supply chain data in digital form across different interfaces to the systems of different actors.

The end result will be new innovative and scalable data-based concepts, services and tools for all the identified interfaces of the construction lifecycle, where data has not previously been transferred.

We want to strategically influence the regulatory environment changes in the EU-level so that the consortium companies can be pioneers in the international markets with their new data-based products and services.

Funding source

The AI Champion project received 20 million euros in total from Business Finland’s Co-Innovation funding. The co-operation partners also helped fund the project.

Co-operation partners

Each founding member has its own sub-project, that together form AI Champion. In addition to the five founding members, AI Champion has its own ecosystem of organizations that are involved in the research. In addition, the research is funded by ETS Nord, Kiilto, GF BFS, Nimlas (formerly QMG), LVI-Info, STK and Airlyse.
