We started on Monday by having a workshop in Finnish nature by the lake. Everyone contributed (or will contribute) in compiling the Final Report. After that we had cultural experience in the Sauna. In pouring rain.
On Tuesday, we observed and practiced simulation pedagogics in Tampere Centre for Skills Training and Simulation. Thank you to all students and colleagues who let us in to your world.
On Wednesday, the 4Steps teams visited Tays, (Tampere University Hospital) NICU, Birth, Pregnancy and Postpartum units. We were so warmly welcomed and quite impressed with the friendly environments, staff, and students. ”Almost like not a hospital.” After that we used the ”Motorola” to reflect on what was good, what was not so good, what we learned and what we can take home from the past 2 days. Main thoughts were high level of professionalism, respect that was visible and the way our students are mentored in their clinical placements. Also, ways to start simulation training by small steps first and how to ensure learning in large student groups. We can learn much from each other!
On Thursday we had TAMK midwife students’ bachelor’s theses presentations and learned about how they can improve practical midwifery care in small, but important ways. And always with an evidence-based approach. 📚 We also had master’s students from Tampere University Health Sciences over for a presentation about their project work. They have completed a literature review to build a foundation for culturally sensitive sexual and reproductive health and rights education for youth. TAMK students will practice together with colleagues from South Africa and use the knowledge and material in the future. 💪🏼
In the afternoon we used newest research journal articles to boost our understanding of research ethics and literacy. Many new ideas were discussed for the future! ✨
Friday was the last day of the last event in 4Steps! This project started in late 2019 and will end in November of 2023. We worked hard, changed our thinking, learned new things, and made friends across the world. 🌏 Hopefully we also made a difference in the lives of babies and families! We want to thank all our partners for your wonderful contribution, we will never forget these years! You made it possible. Let’s keep up the good work and stay in touch! ♥️
It was an exciting week! We will miss you!
